$25,000 Raised for Mount Saint Vincent University Tourism & Hospitality Management Program

On Wednesday, July 27th the Pacrim Invitational started with its reception where Glenn Squires, President & CEO of Pacrim On Wednesday, July 18th the Pacrim Invitational started with its reception at The Lord Nelson Hotel in downtown Halifax. Glenn Squires, President & CEO of Pacrim Hospitality Services Inc. welcomed sponsors, donors, players and Brian Jessop, Vice President, Administration, Mount Saint Vincent University along with other MSVU staff and also several students who were past recipients of the Pacrim scholarship at Mount Saint Vincent University.

“We are truly thankful for the many corporate sponsors and donors that enable us to be 11 years growing this tournament. It is also a real privilege to be a part of something that directly impacts university student lives and helps develop our hospitality leaders of tomorrow. Pacrim’s goal, in regards to this tournament, has always been to provide a venue for our management employees to meet our investors, potential investors, partners and major suppliers as well as to give back to our hospitality community through a Pacrim scholarship and award fund at Mount Saint Vincent University”, said Squires. “With the hospitality industry on the rebound and with today’s severe hospitality employee shortage, it is more important than ever to give back to our hospitality students”, Squires said.

All net proceeds from the live auction which took place on Thursday, July 19th at Oakfield Golf and Country Club are designated to the Tourism and Hospitality Management program at Mount Saint Vincent University (MSVU). This year the Pacrim Invitational presented a cheque to MSVU for $25,000 bringing the eleven year total to over $400,000.

Brian Jessop, Vice President, Administration MSVU added “MSVU is grateful to everyone involved in the Pacrim Invitational. Over the past 10 years proceeds from this tournament have provided direct support to more than 40 Mount students enrolled in the Tourism and Hospitality Management program through two endowed scholarships for students entering the degree program and four unique endowed awards that recognize academic excellence and leadership. We have also been able to create an enhancement fund which supports scholarly initiatives and provides funding for the Tourism and Hospitality Management program needs. The proceeds from the 2012 Pacrim Invitational will further enhance these initiatives”.
